A Saudade e o Carreiro
Os Dois Mineiros
The Longing and the Carreiro
There is no longer the sound of a cattle stampede
And the horn has certainly fallen silent
No longer can the cry of a carreiro be heard
Unfortunately, everything has disappeared
From that road where the cattle used to pass
Abandoned, the asphalt covered the ground
I sit on the porch step
Cattle there only in imagination
Go longing
End this old friend of yours
There's no carreiro, no oxen, no cattle
And the dust of the road has also disappeared
How many times I transported on this road
Heavy loads brought from the backcountry
In the distance, a well-sung duet was heard
Tightly packed in the chumaço and cocão
The kick had embroidered oxen and canary
And in the middle, black gold and champion
The lead oxen with fine-toothed and numbered
That only responded to the jingle of the spur
Today, so sad, I remember my past
I remember the good times that have passed
I see my cart under the paineira tree
It's without the yoke, so sad without the oxen
No cocão, no chumaço, and no fueiro
No carreiro, and the headstall is on the ground
And in these moments, tears flow involuntarily
It seems like a dream, I see everything on a screen
