Cambichos
Os Serranos
Cambichos
When a longing stirs in my chest
I grab the claws to saddle my road
And while the afternoon fades over the hills
My soul ignites its passions and secrets
Then the night brings the light and calm moon
These marshes raise voices and whispers
I spread the undulating wings of my poncho
Because the crazy thirst for cambichos hits me
(Beautiful tiranas that drag me to a gathering
In a remote place where an accordion moans
Where my soul of a cowboy is rocked
By the lights of the longing gazes)
Mestizo and dawn-colored gringas
Blacks and whites blend in the smoke
My heart is a wandering boat in these moments
Passing the night without knowing it passes
But when the sun blazes the horizons' bars
Only directions and memories remain to follow
Yet for a gaucho, this longing is worth more
Than having no longing at all to feel
(Beautiful tiranas that drag me to a gathering
In a remote place where an accordion moans
Where my soul of a cowboy is rocked
By the lights of the longing gazes)
