Border Howler Monkey
The howler monkey from Lagoa Vacaria roars and goes down the mountain
But this one came from the border with a braided hat
Wearing baggy pants and espadrilles and playing the eight-bass accordion
(If I catch you, monkey, I'll shear you
Shearing you, I'll take your poster down
And I'll let you go with your tail up
And the pack of dogs behind)
The howler monkey, daring creature, arrived with slyness
With a look of a gentle fox and claws like a carancho
He hid from the pack of dogs and went to knock on my ranch door
The howler monkey made a mess in my countryside shed
From the blood sausage hanging to the old lard pot
He gorged on my dried meat and drowned in my sugarcane liquor
And then he left contented and patting his belly
And shouting if anyone had a problem, they could come and test him
And whoever saw him saw the devil disguised as a gaucho
