Bugio do Rio Grande
Os Serranos
Bugio of Rio Grande
The bugio didn't arrive quietly to cheer up my beloved pampa
He was born at a ranch dance in the dust of the well-trodden ground
He's a creole from the mountain range, carries in his soul the smile of the land
And a very lively step
(The way of the pampas monkey
And the dance sways and expands
Joy of night and day
For those who dance the bugio of Rio Grande)
He's a success throughout the countryside, when he dances he tramples rest
Brings the rhythm, the sway, and skill in his goose-like counterstep
The bugio is a true gaucho when he roars in the accordion
It's delightful to see his swing
/The bugio is the joy of the pampa in the hands of the Indian accordionist
Carries in his demeanor the mark of the strength of this Brazilian south
When the bugio plays in the fandango, gauchos mix
Chimangos and maragatos under the same lantern/
