Me Besó Y Se Fué
Oscar Agudelo
He Kissed Me and Left
Yesterday on a bench in the old square
That adorns my town where I was born
I realized with sorrow
That life goes by
That life goes by taking me with it
And it took me so long to understand
She had to walk away, the one I adored
For me to realize that, unknowingly
Lying in my arms, she died of faith.
Sitting on the bench, I remembered the afternoon
When we both weaved closely together
The burning romance of a healthy love
Crazy provincial who dreamed of love
And she was a goddess who came to my town
In search of desire, defeated perhaps
She lulled me in her song, divine and tyrannical
And one gray morning, she kissed me and left.
And I have been left alone with my thoughts
In the old square that saw me born
I listened in silence to so many oaths
Pious lies from that woman
How many crazy dreams my enchantment forged
When in a lap, her voice lulled me
A passing bird eager for kisses
Landed on my mouth, kissed me, and left.
Sitting on the bench, I remembered the afternoon
When we both weaved closely together
The burning romance of a healthy love
Crazy provincial who dreamed of love
And she was a goddess who came to my town
In search of desire, defeated perhaps
She lulled me in her song, divine and tyrannical
And one gray morning, she kissed me and left.
