Cuando Llegas Ausente a Mí
Pablo Milanés
When You Arrive Absent to Me
When you arrive absent to me I can see
The presence that lives in you another being,
The embrace that you never finish,
The gaze to nowhere
And the inevitable blush of your skin.
Is your body in the early morning upon return
A wreckage of yesterday's freshness,
Vain attempt to achieve something
Between tears and pleasure
That confuse my agony and your disdain.
But one day the unexpected will happen
You will say another name when you call me.
I will answer 'yes, love' even if I end up
Dying inside with my pain.
When today you arrive absent to me I can see
The presence that still remains in you another being,
The embrace that you never finish,
The gaze to nowhere
And the silence that suffocates me without crying.
