It's been so long, but it seems like now
Our Lady adorned on a float
Was carried by candlelight through the streets
Only her songs of praise
Our sky was decorated with little flags
The ground was covered with flowers
At the end of the month, everyone in the square by the church
And how happy the hour of the coronation
The little girls were various angels
Singing verses, they danced around the altar
The people were one soul, one person
And the crown was our way of loving

How I wish to live again what I lived
And just to be with you in the square by the church
To love you, Mother, to love you with simplicity
And truly be your child and be happy

Only today do I understand, Mother of Heaven, your crown
It was not in vain that my people praised you so
Like no one else, you are an admirable queen
What God did for you is unfathomable
You are the noblest example of our race
Living poor, life and faith your wealth
Mother of your God, you were a slave out of love
Strong in pain, all of you was purity
Your song was praise, denunciation, and gratitude
Your heart contained no selfishness
Your sinless life was service
And all of this is what made you, Mother, a queen

I wish I were a child going to catechism
To dread selfishness and wickedness
For all of this in my heart now
I give you, Lady, the crown of longing
