Balada Por Um Reino
Padre Zezinho
Ballad for a Kingdom
Because of a certain kingdom, roads I walked
Seeking, without rest, the kingdom I glimpsed
The Evening Star shone and I almost without sleep,
seeking this certain kingdom and its memory haunting me!
Because of that kingdom, a thousand times I deceived myself!
Taking the wrong path, erring when I was right!
Arriving at dusk, and I almost without sleep,
seeking this certain kingdom and its memory haunting me!
A carpenter's son who came from Nazareth,
showed himself so true, gave life to my faith
He spoke of a new kingdom, of flowers and sparrows,
of people dragging the net, I thirsted for his peace!
The carpenter's son spoke of a brotherly world;
Of a Father who was a companion of love and liberation
He cast a deep gaze, chilling my heart;
Then he spoke to me of the world, and gave me the seal of vocation!
Now those who know me, ask if I found
the kingdom I sought, if it's all I desired
And I say thinking of him: among you is
the kingdom you seek, and those with love will understand!
Jesus taught me again, the things I learned,
that's why I loved my people and read the Book of Life
And in every young girl, in every young boy,
I dream that my people will be the seed of eternal peace!
