Invitation
One of these days, if you want
As soon as the Lord's day dawns
From door to door we will walk
Going out to invite the saint and the sinner
From house to house we will remember
That it's a day to praise the Creator
While the church bell in front
Will be calling us to prayer
And so early, as the day breaks,
We will celebrate our Eucharist
We will sit around the table
And whoever is certain will start to proclaim
That the wine and bread we share
Will be the body and blood of the Lord Jesus
And the holy Word we hear
Will flood us with the most perfect light
And there at the table where the poor sit
The well-off, the noble, the layman, and the hermit
For a few moments, at least a second,
We will be equal in breaking the bread
One of these days, all together,
Kings and the governed, we will sit
At that table as companions
There is no first or last place
We will listen with humility
To the news of the Truth that Jesus preached
And one of those present will step forward
To do as Jesus commanded
And by doing so, just as Jesus did
Our Eucharist will envelop us
And we will understand more about freedom
Bound in the Truth that arises from the bread
If we understand the democracy
Of this Eucharist that makes us equal
That makes us feel first
And sometimes last, for not coming in peace
If we assimilate with serenity
The strength and Truth of this meal
Everything depends on whether we truly believe
Or the faith we have. This is the question!
If anyone wants, let them sing hosanna or come
But do not raise toasts to avoid disturbing
The companion next to you
And now, focused, is praying
Let no one partake if they are wrong
Or still at peace with their sin
Let them not share, those who never share
Not with family, nor with those in need
Do not feed on the divine bread
The one who enslaves and barely gives back the bread
For at this table sits the one who redeems
And never the one who oppresses and harms their own brother
For this reason, whoever wants to know
The art of living, come break the bread
Come drink from the wine of justice
Whoever comes to the holy Mass to be a brother
And there at the table, where the poor sit
The well-off, the noble, and those who are able
For a few moments, at least a second
We will all know where peace comes from!
For a few moments, at least a second
We will all know where peace comes from!
