Se Meu Irmão Me Estende a Mão
Padre Zezinho
If My Brother Reaches Out to Me
If my brother reaches out to me,
And asks for a bit of my bread,
And I don’t respond, I say "no,"
I’ve lost my way and direction.
At this table of forgiveness, I’ll raise the bread and wine,
And thinking of my brother,
I’ll welcome my Lord.
I want to see in my brother his image,
My brother who doesn’t even have
What he needs to find peace.
I want to be for my brother the answer in him,
I who live happier and sometimes have too much.
The body and blood of the Lord,
The body and blood of a brother,
The same father and the same love,
The same path and direction.
At this table of the Lord,
I’m responsible for the peace,
Of those who in laughter and pain,
Will seek the father with me.
I want to see in my brother his image,
My brother who doesn’t even have
What he needs to find peace.
I want to be for my brother the answer in him,
I who live happier and sometimes have too much.
