Festa de Campo
Palito Portela
Country Party
I’m feeling nostalgic for the rodeo
I saddled up the mare with the sturdy back
I looked for the way and hopped on my horse
To the crowing of roosters at dawn
I called the cattle near the saddle rack
They quickly circled around me
My buddy taps the back end
As I lead the way, shouting like this
Come on, come on, come on, come on, cattle to the pen
Come on, come on, come on, the day has brightened
If any skittish bull refuses to go through the gate
We’ve already got a job for the saddler
The more they heal, the more I’ll put one on their back
Just to see the fall of that wild bull
Smoke from the fire, we grab it with our nails
With the hard work, we’re used to it
We take a little break there at noon
Everything’s a joy for this crew
Meat on the grill and a sip of the good stuff
You only get tired if you don’t laugh
Come on, come on, come on, come on, cattle to the pen
Come on, come on, come on, the day has brightened
If any skittish bull refuses to go through the gate
We’ve already got a job for the saddler
When it’s late afternoon and the work is done
Goodbye saddle in front of the barn
My accordion is already ready
For a night of fun
I love this life the way I live it
Because back in my town, it’s all a game
The ranch work with the neighbors
After the big party that lasts a lifetime
I jump on the mare and head back home
But first, I say goodbye singing to the crowd
The boss of the ranch tells the crew
Another round of ranch work, there’s a party again
