Cuando Me Muera
Pampa Cruz
When I Die
I want to leave stated for when my luck runs out
And death comes to me like a dazzled rooster
That I must be crouched down to not fail at anything
I will leave to my countrymen something that will be notorious
Instead of having a wake, let there be a rodeo
I hope God from heaven doesn't get angry and understands me
That I need him to understand that it's my last comfort
And before taking flight, may no one cry for me
But I ask this, if the one in charge is there
To recite a verse, one of the many I wrote
From ten onwards, let them start the horseback riding
And at twelve it ends with a plentiful barbecue
I will be there, enjoying the party
Let it be clean, modest, and no one leaves offended
And if someone is bored, hire an orchestra
In the best of the party, may there be no lack of a storyteller
Nor a singer who makes the guitar tremble
Who plays with passion for the country customs
And with the southern saddle, release twenty young horses
And ten special rides with the saddle and the saddlecloth
Rider at heart, I ask you and I write it now
Place a pair of stirrups when closing my coffin
With a gaucho expression, I will seek your grandfather
I will travel through the clouds to tell the countryman
Be happy, brother, a rider like you
And when the sun is setting and the last reserved one comes out
Take me away from another side so no one suffers
That I look smiling at this gaucho day
And the countrymen will say something that will be notorious
No sad lights of a wake
If a rodeo is held...
