El Rescate
Panchito Arredondo
The Rescue
The afternoon, the humidity, and the warmth were felt up in the mountains, I was at a little ranch
I backed up the Cherokee, the boss with his family, and I was keeping a close watch
The general sounds off, you can hear the report
Four fast ones, heading their way
We took off in a hurry and jumped into the armored trucks, taking back roads
The old man driving as fast as he could, had to be a badass to handle that armored ride
The downpour hit us hard, and with the weight of the truck, it almost flipped over
They saw us pass, the guys from the Semar
And on that radio, the signal was fading
The 14 was on its way, I was getting my Norinco ready, had ammo to take a shot
The train started moving, a little ahead, his wife was calling, I need to talk to you
If I don’t make it out alive, you know, take good care of my kids
I started firing back, responded to the heat
I couldn’t go down, I had to escape
His guys showed up, eight backup trucks, the boss came out, and we kept fighting
In gratitude to his boys, for being loyal to the man, giving their lives without a second thought
They had to surrender on orders, and now they’re out, that crew is still active
I saw the man raise a glass, for his freedom
Now we celebrate, he started to remember
We laughed and joked, because we all made it out, the important thing is that The Old Man is safe.
