La Ciudad de La Esperanza
Panteón Rococó
The City of Hope
It's the city of hope,
It's a dog that never catches up to me.
That bites me,
While I run for my life.
It's the trench that turns me into a beast.
Giant prison, of millions of inhabitants,
Who don't want to know anything about anything,
With the clock, running through their veins
And life slipping away with so much pain.
The world gets ready faster
And goes on the subway so tightly.
And they grope women
Even in places, I won't tell you about.
And in the street, the chaos,
Intense traffic, dense atmosphere.
One runs a red light,
Another commits a robbery.
People crowded
In the services and in the embassy.
And in government agencies
All the lines are hell.
And there's no one that I see. (4x)
That social discontent
Is no longer abnormal.
Even in a hospital
They treat you like an animal. (2x)
It's the city of hope,
Where they extort the whole race,
Where everyone scratches their belly,
Where everyone goes overboard.
Where dreams have become passengers.
Innocent, fearful, on a bus.
And for justice to be served
You always have to fall with a light.
That's how things work.
That's how crazy things are.
That's how things work.
That's how crazy things are.
Oh, oh, oh! is what I bring here
A feeling that wants to come out.
I live in Mexico City,
Where some have a good time
And most have a hard time.
However,
What I learn daily
Is to understand, solve,
Survive and thrive.
To be able to understand! To be able to comprehend!
It's the city of hope,
Where money never reaches you,
Where the gang goes overboard,
Here comes the dog, run before it catches you!
It's the city of hope,
Full of anguish and also of longing.
Thirty million heads
Seeking fortune among misfortune
Of being born there,
Of leaving everything behind
And coming here.
Between the asphalt and the smog.
Between stress and extortion.
