LA LEY DEL MONTE
Panter Bélico
THE LAW OF THE MOUNTAIN
I engraved your name on the agave leaf
Joined with mine
Interlaced
As evidence before the law of the mountain
That we were there
In love
You were the one who sought the leaf
The prettiest
The most slender
And you even said I should also engrave
Two hearts
With an arrow
Now you say you don't remember
That nothing is true
That they are just words
I am calm
Because in the end
In our idyll
The leaves speak
The same night you changed my love
You also cut
That leaf
You imagined that if I saw it
It would be
An affront to you
You forgot that the agave knew
What you swore
In our night
And that in its own way it could also
Reproach you
I don't know if you believe the strange things
That my eyes see
Maybe you'll be surprised
The new leaves that sprout on the agave
Are marked
With our names
