Venezia no
Paola Bertoni
No Venice
Mom and dad, fifty years ago,
they arrived in Venice as newlyweds
and as a memory they bought
a gondola with a music box.
But that memory of another era,
that accompanied my youth,
today unfortunately no longer plays
its magical and dear song.
Everything has changed by now,
No Venice, No Venice, never changes,
and if you go to Venice,
like in the times of Goldoni, you will see it.
Cities change,
No Venice, No Venice, will not change.
Guardi and Milesi once
painted it as you see it here.
Life passes for all of us
like lace on the lace pillow,
in every heart there is a gondola
for a sea of joy and pain.
Mom and dad have returned once more
to celebrate their golden wedding,
everything has changed, Venice no,
the lagoon cannot change.
No Venice, No Venice, never changes!
No Venice, No Venice, never changes!
Cities change,
No Venice, No Venice, will not change.
With its wings it goes,
white dove of my happiness!
No Venice, No Venice, will not change!
