Amigos Tiengos Por Cientos
Violeta Parra
Hundreds of Friends
I have friends by the hundreds
For all my delight
I say it without malice
With true contentment
I am a friend of the wind
That rules the heights
Friend of the depths
With turns and whirlwinds
Friend of the fine air
With all its mischief
I am a friend of the fire
Of the most shining star
Because in the arrogant sky
It walks like its owner
I am a friend of the nightingale
Lightning of the moon
With all its charm
It illuminates the furious sea
And friend of the leafy
Nocturnal darkness
Friend of the solitary
Morning star
And of the early breeze
That shines like a rosary
Friend of the gardener
Of the arch of alliances
I am a trusted friend
Of clouds and storm clouds
Also of the sunsets
In all circumstances
I am a friend of the rain
Because it is a singing harp
Of wires and strings
That play with fury
Friend of the centuries
Of the treasures of spaces
And of the echoing sounds
That the hailstorms keep
Friend of the rapids
That sing their beautiful color
Friend of the mist
That roams the horizons
Mountain ranges and hills
With its very fine presence
The snow so white
In towns and solitudes
Calm and storms
Are my sincere friends
But my song the first
Of all my friendships
