Casamiento de Los Negros
Violeta Parra
Black Wedding
A wedding has been formed
All covered in black
Black grooms and godparents
Black brothers-in-law and in-laws
And the priest who married them
Was also black
When they started the party
They put a black tablecloth
Then they got to dessert
They served dried figs
And went to bed
Under a black sky
And there are the two heads
Of the black woman with the black man
And they woke up cold
They had to light a fire
The little black girl brought coal
Coal that is also black
Something hurts the black woman
The village doctor came
Prescribed a mud poultice
But the blackest mud
They gave the black woman
Maqui juice from the hill
The little black girl has died
What a pity for the poor black man
He put her in a coffin
Coffin painted black
They didn't even light a candle
Oh! What a dark wake
