Al Centro de La Injusticia
Violeta Parra
At the Center of Injustice
Chile borders to the north with Peru
And to the south it borders with Cape Horn,
The mountain range rises in the east
And in the west shines the coastal road.
In the middle are the valleys with their greenery
Where the inhabitants multiply,
Every family has many children
Living in poverty in tenements.
Of course, some live comfortably,
But that's at the expense of the slaughtered.
In front of the most arrogant shield
Agriculture has its question.
Potatoes are sold to us by various nations
When they are originally from southern Chile.
In front of the emblem of three colors
Mining has many challenges.
The miner produces good money,
But it goes to the foreigner's pocket;
An exuberant industry where many women work
For a few coins
And they have to do it because for the husband
The pay is not enough for the whole month.
To not feel the pain of this needle
In the starry night, I leave my voice.
The country looks beautiful, Mr. Tourist,
But they haven't shown you the mushrooms.
While they spend millions in a moment,
People who are a wonder die of hunger.
A lot of money in municipal parks
And great poverty in hospitals.
In the middle of Alameda de las Delicias,
Chile lies at the center of injustice.
