Décimas Por El Nacimiento
Violeta Parra
Tenths for the Birth
The child Jesus was born
In the Bethlehem stable,
The star of great good
Shone upon the wise men.
The world shone
With whistles and tambourines,
Seven comets came down
To see this birth,
The heights of the firmament
That opened up for the celebration.
The faithful of the Redeemer
Hasten eagerly
To witness the beautiful
Gift of the great Lord.
Goodbye to our pain,
May penance help us,
Let us bow
At this humble portal
Because wrapped in swaddling clothes
God came into existence.
Glorious that night
When the virgin suffered
And gave the world a son
Brighter than a spark.
The stars came down,
The birds sang,
Knowing that Jesus Christ
Came to Christianize them
And out of love to save them
With his infinite pain.
There is the pure virgin
Next to Saint Joseph,
With the little child they are three,
They look at each other with great tenderness.
There has been and will be no sweetness
Greater in intensity
Than that of Christmas
When he came down from the heavens
To give us his great comfort
The God of Christianity.
