Pasteles Verdes
The Prisoner
There on the dock, by the cove
A prisoner, sad I saw
His mother, comforting him
And kissing him frenziedly
He was a noble and honest boy
And a woman cursed him
And to many vices that were forbidden
That boy dedicated himself
It was a night, at a dance
Driven mad by alcohol
To his most beloved faithful friend
Without reason, he killed him
He was sentenced to 20 years
Sadly looking towards the sea
Always thinking of that island
Where he would pay for his sins
The ship arrived, the whistle was heard
The poor mother began to cry
Oh, don't take away my son
Whom I raised working hard
That boy said a few words
Mother, don't cry, don't cry anymore
I am guilty and I acknowledge it
But I must pay the sentence
And one night, in his cell
He saw a little bird arrive
It was his mother in the form of a bird
Who came to visit her son
Who came to visit her son
