El Tren de La Alegría
Paté de Fuá
The Joy Train
Old joy train
I just watch you go by
I know little about fantasy
Nothing about happiness
Old joy train
If only I knew where you're going
No matter how much your wagons long for
There's no reason in them
Nor a place for me
From the joy train
I was never a passenger
If sometimes I wait for it
It's just to watch
Its starry figure
That passes by and I imagine
Happy on the path of
Its eternal carnival
I don't know what its rush is
Or what sense it makes
I don't know where it comes from
Or where it's going
I only know that those on board are happy
While the rest of us march behind
Like gray clowns from the outskirts
That early morning
Seeing it on a corner
I see it through the fog
Climbing onto its wagon
And with a ruined soul
And fine makeup
Those characters
Were nothing but an illusion
Standing without a ticket
Looking strangely
At all those people
I stayed still
And seeing the next station
With nothing to do, I got off
With disappointment
And from the platform
I could see the fake train moving away
Old joy train
I just watch you go by
I know little about fantasy
Nothing about happiness
Old joy train
If only I knew where you're going
No matter how much your wagons long for
There's no reason in them
Nor a place for me.
