El Andariego

The Wanderer
(song - congratulations)
Crossing by birth
One day I had to find her,
Hair the color of wheat,
Clear eyes,
Bread kisses.
Upon seeing her, I understood
That I would get tangled
In the sheaves of her hair
And in the gleams of her gaze.
In birth
I went blind.
Estuary calling us
Bordering the sunset
To give us a new suit
Of clear water
At nightfall.
Oh, wine of her skin,
Copper and sun myrtle,
That I drank for the first time
And in the gleams
Of her blush.
In birth
The sun shone.
The eyes that looked at me
No longer shine for me,
Dark clay dove
Died in my hands
While nesting.
With kisses that burned me
I said goodbye to her soul
To then take the path
That brought me to her
And that took me away.
In birth
It darkened.
Cart driver without a cart,
Rider without a steed,
I leave every morning
But I have nowhere
To arrive.
I like to be free
- if I live to walk and walk -
Carrying the open wound
And here in my chest
For her gaze.
By birth
I don't pass anymore.
