Elegía Sin Nombre
Patricio Manns
Nameless Elegy
My soul is getting cloudy
From holding your shadow so tight,
Old tree in the open,
No rain that I won't catch.
I catch it because I feel
That you cry every now and then.
The one who leaves is the one who changes
Through winters into summers.
If you left,
Safe travels,
But I don’t want to follow,
Because in the land
Where you loved me
I’ve put down my roots.
I don’t know if you were a dream
One of those that bloom at night
Or if it’s true you burned me
Like a lightning bolt to my memory.
Now I know you don’t exist anymore:
With the night, you’ve merged,
And I know love is blind,
And I know forgetfulness is blind.
