Vino Del Mar
Patricio Manns
Wine from the Sea
Wine from the sea
wrapped in blue water,
brought by the wind from beyond,
sleeping in the
foam and salt waves
over her own mortal wound.
Wine from the sea
with a scar
that divided her chest in two,
drawn by
a furious dagger
that eternalized her defenselessness.
Wine from the sea
whiter than salt
towards the dark artery of my love
and there she remained
dead on the gray beach
under a twilight glow.
Wine from the sea
blacker than coal
to illuminate the night of my love
and there she ignited
a fire without fury
to warm my heart.
Wine from the sea
and she was a blue star
dancing on high waves of salt.
(You came back to me
because you tied me
to the knot of eternity.)
