No Meu Interior Tem Deus
Pe. Fábio de Melo
In My Interior There Is God
In the guardian lands of my history,
Where the wind and memory,
Continue to take me.
Edges where the old river flows,
Are sources of paths,
That I am still searching for.
There where longing has settled,
And shelters what will not pass from me.
I am from the interior, I am Brazilian,
From the plains I am an heir,
Sometimes I say 'uai.'
And under the sky so dotted with stars,
Early morning colors bloom adorning my place.
The bell rings, the people start opening the door,
The sound of a viola cries for joy to return.
And the voice that was born in suffering sings,
And the voice that never gave up prays,
The women touch their vines,
Who in their children already write: 'in this interior there is god.'
In my interior there is god,
There is god, there is god.
I am a territory without borders,
The heart has no gate,
But who rules here is god. (2x)
In my interior there is god. (4x)
In my interior there is god,
There is god, there is god.
I am a territory without borders,
The heart has no gate,
But who rules here is god. (2x)
In my interior there is god. (4x)
