Sete Palavras
Pedro Bento e Zé da Estrada
Seven Words
God loved this world so much
The world did not respond
So God sent the prophets
But no one obeyed
God sent his own son
But no one recognized
When he wandered
There were doors that closed when he knocked
To save humanity
Our Lord was born
Thirty-three years old
He lived in this world
God of infinite kindness
Had compassion for the world
He gave his own life
To gather the beloved sheep
That got lost from the flock
At the time of the holy supper
He kissed the feet of his disciples
Then he said
Do as I do
I'm going to my father's house
Where we came from
One of you will betray me
Even Peter will pretend he never knew me
He looked up to the sky
Took the bread and blessed it
This bread is my body
Each disciple ate
This wine is my blood
Each disciple drank
Judas threw on the ground
That piece of bread
He left the table and ran
30 pieces of silver
Was what he received
In the olive grove
He took soldiers and arrested
Jesus arrested and tied up
Remained silent
After so much mistreatment
They shouted to Pilate
Crucify the Galilean
At the time of his death
The earth turned pale
Thundered from south to north
All Judea trembled
The temple veil tore
Pilate regretted
One smiled, the other wept
Jesus said these words
On the cross he died
Father, forgive them
They do not know what they are doing
Father, into your hands
I commit my spirit
It is finished
It is finished
