Ofrenda
Pedro Guerra
Offering
I fill a pot with water
and leave it at the door
for you to come back.
Wheat and olives,
honey and mint
for you to come back.
I open the window,
stock the pantry
for you to come back.
A warmth from the nest,
mint tea
for you to come back.
You’ll drink, wet your lips
after all that wandering.
You’ll talk, share your journey
and then you’ll rest.
Ten bunches of grapes
and a chill of strawberries
for you to come back.
A smoke of incense
and a candle’s light
for you to come back.
You’ll drink, wet your lips
after all that wandering.
You’ll talk, share your journey
and then you’ll rest.
Water, earth, fire, and air
all that you hope for
from love and life.
I’ll give you my offering
for you to come back.
Water, earth, fire, and air
all that you hope for
from love and life.
I’ll give you my offering
for you to come back.
for you to come back.
for you to come back.
for you to come back.
for you to come back.
