Cautiva del Rio
Pedro Messone
Captive of the River
I found you, darling, remember
by the beach that kisses the river
and lifting you in my arms
I held you close to my warm chest.
Like a sweet dove
I sang you a lullaby of a thousand songs
and love was born like a garden
in that ranch by the palm trees.
CHORUS:
And since then in that nest, trapped
you live by the gentle river, in love
the moon rises behind the hill, like it's embraced
threads of silver and in your eyes, happiness.
A heron is a handkerchief
thirsty for the sky, it flies away
like a bud that the wind
will snatch from the cotton field.
In the hidden realm
green and violet, the afternoon died
night fell wrapped in jasmine
and found you happy by the palm trees.
CHORUS:
And since then in that nest, trapped
you live by the gentle river, in love
the blue moon that imposes the waters behind the hill
shimmering silver and in your eyes, happiness.
