Dos Mañanas
Pedro Suárez-Vértiz
Two Mornings
One beautiful morning
In a day of my life
From a balcony, I saw you pass by
And fear overwhelmed me
And as you walked
You gave me a smile
Hope arrived without asking
And silent love was born
And I felt how the pain was erased
I, who was sad and alone that morning
Saw love pass in front of me, wanted to scream
And let you go
Again at my window
I saw you pass by in a hurry
While I trembled with anxiety
Please say goodbye again, my love
I will never be able to forget it
You looked at the window
And threw a flower at my doorstep
And my heart exploded
But you never passed by my house again
Everything stayed in those two mornings
Sometimes I see you waving goodbye
I run down and it's all an illusion
I never knew her name
Nor where she came from
But I never forgot her
It was love, real love
And I felt the pain returning to me
Love drove me crazy and devoured me
Of all my travels and past things
I only carry within me those two mornings
If something true still exists in my soul
It's just the memory of those two mornings
Of those two mornings
