Onde Estão?
Pedro Valença
Where Are They?
Do they have hunger? A good place to sleep?
Do they feel safe when night falls and darkness comes?
Do they have protection against the cold?
Is there a friendly shoulder to console them?
I worry if my children are well, just like you are;
Sitting at my table, eating in abundance
While the rest of the family is lost
Can you hear my voice?
Do you understand my pain?
Find my children, and extend my embrace
Carry my gaze into the cities, they will recognize me.
Find my children, tell them of my great love
Teach them the way back home, the way to find peace.
Where are those who claim to be my steps, my embraces?
My understanding gaze;
Where are those who call themselves my body?
Can they hear my voice?
