El Tapatio
Pepe Aguilar
The Tapatio
They call me the Tapatio
Because I grew up in Jalisco
Among meadows and rivers in the highlands and in the marshes
Surrounded by tequila I have become a charro
Because I tame even calves and drink from a jug
They call me the Tapatio
Because I grew up in Jalisco
Among roses and dew kissing from peak to peak
They call me the Tapatio
Just as I lead mules
I tame them with lassos
And I don't need help because I always bring the desire
I can jump a goat
Or ride a bull
And whoever wants to challenge me, I assure you I won't run
They call me the Tapatio
Because I grew up in Jalisco
Why don't they feel cold when I kiss them with bites
They call me the Tapatio
I bring them my serenades
With violins and guitars
So that my sweethearts sigh
From behind their windows
Those who don't sigh cry
Others bite their shawls
But why torture themselves when their loving one is here
They call me the Tapatio
Because I grew up in Jalisco
Like the eagle boldly
I strike the snakes with my beak
They call me the Tapatio
