No Chaquaio do Pandeiro
Pirisca Grecco
In the Chaquaio of the Pandeiro
I made a pandeiro from a mare's leather
And the sound reached for meters and leagues
I put a vine around the outside
And it had a spur rosette as a rattle
I was hired for a country dance
By bad luck the band was missing a pandeiro
The folks liked the native sound
And so I was called with a reputation as an artist
In a buckskin horse
I went to the party
And the sound of the instrument
Scared the horse
He came frightened
From that shaking
And I stuck the pandeiro
In the horse's ears
In that gallop my horse refuses
I pulled on the reins, sniffed the grass
The gaucho beret got lost in the wind
And I found a note for my instrument
I arrived at the party of the buckskin horse
Who came frightened with bloodshot eyes
The band was already rehearsing
And it was in the shed that I tied up my horse
The dance starts with a xote
Outside my horse stretched its neck
It sat through that thunderstorm
And around midnight the shed collapsed
There were women running
Old ladies screaming
And the dance ended
In that chaos
It was the horse's fault
In that mess
That I was annoyed
Playing the pandeiro
In that gallop my horse refuses
I pulled on the reins, sniffed the grass
The gaucho beret got lost in the wind
And I found a note for my instrument
In that gallop my horse refuses
I pulled on the reins, sniffed the grass
The gaucho beret got lost in the wind
And I found a note for my instrument
It was the horse's fault
In that mess
That I was annoyed
Playing the pandeiro
