Oh Blessed Guadalupe
Mexico, let it bloom
She appeared to Juan Diego
Our Lady, the Virgin

On a virtuous peak
In a sweet harmony
In a rainbow of colors
There stands the Virgin Mary

She calls him and he climbs the hill
To see what she wanted
Juan Diego was amazed
To see how beautiful the way was

"Son, Juan Diego," she says
"This grace you must fulfill
You must go down to Mexico
And see the Archbishop"

"In your light and presence
The Lady sent me to say
That in that place you should build
A house for her to live in"

The Archbishop replies
"I don’t know how that can be
If you don’t bring me a sign
Son, I can’t believe you"

Sad, Juan Diego went back
Where the Virgin left him
"Lady, the Archbishop
Asked for a sign from me"

"Because of this outfit I wear
He didn’t believe my words
You should look for a Spanish man
A man of good standing"

"Angels are here to serve me," says
The immense Virgin
"But I want you
To take care of this task"

Empress of the heavens
With her powerful hands
Gives him a sign to take
To the Archbishop: some roses

Confused, he replies
That he should throw them on the ground
And on the blessed tilma
The Virgin was imprinted

Kneeling down
He says it this way
"Welcome, Lady
For the protection of this land"

Powerful Empress, whom
We call our mother
Lady of Guadalupe
