Where It Begins (feat. Subverso)
Don't talk to me about violence as if I didn't know it
As if its existence were a new experience
As if it were just a specific situation of now
And I didn't know how it operates throughout history
We live in a more violent model
Than any direct protest, revolt, or people's demonstration
We can see it, live it, and feel it
Violent is the damn minimum wage, petty and undignified
Authorities condemn a type of violence
The one that threatens the big company system
Against its property, its laws, and its police
And silences the immense violence of everyday
The constant raids with war weapons
To the Mapuche people who continue to resist for their land
The pellets, cowards, and threats that children suffer
When there are innovations in their own home
Violent is the sale of your rights and in fact
It's a robbery the charge in education, health, and shelter
Violent is the corporate appropriation of all forests
The seas and the habitat they will devastate
But that doesn't come out in the press
That braids messages efficiently to overcome resistance
And its state is the organized violence of the upper class
Against those who work for almost nothing
And where does violence begin?
It begins since we are born in these ghettos of impotence
In the lack of every opportunity
True violence is the city of opulence
And where does violence begin?
The awakening of consciousness only brings one consequence
I cover my face, you cover reality
True violence is capital and its essence
There's nothing more hypocritical than talking about violence
If it doesn't touch your doors, or wake you up at night
Come sleep here in the ghetto and tell me if there's a facet
Of this concrete reality that I don't understand
Violence is the indifference with people
Or the flat way the rich treat the indigent
They are the barriers they invent to discriminate against you
They are walls raised to stop the immigrant
Tell me who is responsible for these atrocities
Crimes against humanity, military prisons
There in Iraq, Afghanistan, or in Libya
Children in Palestine are killed almost every day
When the empire identifies its enemy
The media owners justify even genocide
And those who bomb schools and factories
After human rights want to give lectures
We don't buy it when they give us that argument
That demonizes those who are fighting to be so violent
If in one session in parliament they annihilate more lives
Than all our homemade weapons
But if we strongly demand something
They call us criminals and send us to hell
(Am I violent?) Your fucking bundles are violent
Which are suffering and death for working people
And where does violence begin?
It begins since we are born in these ghettos of impotence
In the lack of every opportunity
True violence is the city of opulence
And where does violence begin?
The awakening of consciousness only brings one consequence
I cover my face, you cover reality
True violence is capital and its essence
When will violence end?
Only when social inequality ends
When poverty ends, bad education
Health as you see it
When it's worth looking for a job
Instead of trafficking or saving oneself by stealing on the corners
When we live in neighborhoods designed for human beings
When public transportation doesn't treat us like cattle
When we no longer have to watch out in the streets
When our children eat well and grow up healthy
There violence will end
I swear to you, my brother, my sister
And until then there will only be war
