Pascal Proclamation
Let the multitude of Angels exult with joy
Let the heavenly hosts exult
Let hymns of glory resound to announce the triumph of such a great King
Let the earth also rejoice, flooded by such great brightness
For the light of Christ, the eternal King
Dispels the darkness from the whole world
Let the Church, our mother, rejoice
Adorned with the splendors of such great light
And let the acclamations of the people of God resound in this temple
V. The Lord be with you
R. He is in our midst
V. Lift up your hearts
R. Our hearts are in God
V. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God
R. It is right and just, it is our salvation
It is truly right and just, it is our salvation
To proclaim with all the fervor of our soul and all our voice the praises of the invisible God, the almighty Father
And of His only begotten Son
Jesus Christ, our Lord
He paid for us to the eternal Father the debt contracted by Adam
And with His precious Blood He erased the condemnation of ancient sin
Today we celebrate the feasts of Easter
In which the true Lamb is sacrificed
Whose Blood consecrates the doors of the faithful
This is the night
In which You freed the Israelites from the bondage of Egypt
Our fathers
And made them pass dry-shod through the Red Sea
This is the night
In which the pillar of fire dispelled the darkness of sin
This is the night
That frees from the darkness of sin and the corruption of the world
Those who today throughout the world believe in Christ
Night that restores them to grace and gathers them in the communion of the Saints
This is the night
In which Christ, breaking the chains of death
Rises victorious from the grave
Oh, admirable condescension of Your grace!
Oh, incomparable favor of Your love!
To redeem the slave You handed over Your Son
Oh, necessary sin of Adam
That was destroyed by the death of Christ!
Oh, blessed fault
That merited us so great a Redeemer!
This holy night dispels crimes, washes away sins
Restores innocence to sinners
Brings joy to the sorrowful
Oh, blessed night
In which heaven is united to earth, in which man meets God!
On this night of grace, accept, holy Father
This evening sacrifice of praise
Which, in the solemn offering of this candle
By the hands of Your ministers
You present to the holy Church
We ask You, Lord
That this candle, dedicated to Your name
May burn unceasingly
To dispel the darkness of night
And, rising to You as a sweet perfume
May join its light to that of the stars in the sky
May it still shine when the morning star arises
That star that knows no setting
Jesus Christ, Your Son
Who, rising from the dead, illuminated mankind with His light and peace
And lives gloriously for ever and ever
R / Amen
