Eyes Of a Homeless Dog
Psychonaut 4
Eyes of a Homeless Dog
Today I saw the emptiness in his eyes,
His aimless gaze, so detached,
So indifferent, it didn’t even show fear.
Now I know for sure how weak I am:
I’ll never be able to look
Into the eyes of this homeless dog.
All these pavements, all these streets,
Soaked streets, this forever-gray city -
They’ve drained all the life out of your emaciated body.
These are your last days, I know for sure!
Ah, don’t blow all your last cash, I’d buy you at least
A piece of sausage. But you seem to not give a shit.
You didn’t even notice I sat down next to you.
To you, I’m just another drunk who remembered,
That he, you see, loves animals, when he’s wasted. Yeah, you’re right, oh God, you’re right!
I’m just another drunk piece of shit, sitting next to you.
But how can I forget your eyes, how? How can I forget?
Someone will say there are a million like you.
You, like them, just hit the wrong time, wrong place.
But where is THAT place??? Where is THAT time? Where? Where?
You’re shaking. Yeah, the city will take care of you:
You’ll be burned in a dump, after some
Drunk driver hits you.
The earth will soak up what’s left of you.
If I could turn back time,
I’d wish I never looked into the eyes of this
Homeless dog.
