Bitte Lieber Gott
Pur
Please Dear God
Tired, the old man drags the weight behind him.
The passage of time has piled up mountains.
That so many believe in him, that’s what makes it so
hard. He’s already disappointed so many.
At first, it was just an experiment -
but with only one shot. He didn’t know if
it would truly be a blessing or an irreparable
curse. He gave them fire and the freedom to
think, to believe, and to understand. But then
he discovered too late that thinking couldn’t be controlled.
A flaw in the system.
Chorus:
Please dear God, do you hear them praying?
Please dear God, you can handle this.
Please dear God, and peace on Earth.
Don’t leave them hanging and give this
whole thing some meaning.
He helped wherever he could with all
his strength and might.
But it was never enough, exhausted, overestimated.
He offered help for self-help, and he did it thoughtfully,
setting many clear signs.
Finding a way out of the mess, out of the chaos,
he can’t do it alone for the world.
Everyone has to seek it for themselves, no one sees for the blind.
No one can be without hope.
Chorus: Please dear God, do you hear them praying?
Please dear God, you can handle this.
Please dear God, and peace on Earth.
Don’t leave them hanging and give this whole
thing some meaning.
Please dear God, do you hear them praying?
Please dear God, you can handle this.
Please dear God, and peace on Earth.
To each their own and all the divine meaning.
