People who in darkness, death, and pain
Previously walked
Saw a great light shining
That then shone

The yoke was broken
And from oppression we were freed
The earth rejoiced before him
The king arrived

For unto us a child is born
God-man, a son was given to us
Upon his shoulders, the government rests
Jesus Christ, the prince of peace

And incarnate, the son, the word, himself
Emptied
We saw his glory, God to us
Revealed

He offered hope and grace
To the sinner
He took upon himself our cross
But he rose again
