Com a Tropilha Por Diante
Quarteto Coração de Potro
With the Troop Ahead
It rained on the other side
And the stream's step is full
I crossed to this side
With water on the saddle's flap
I saddled up in the early morning
And the day behind the hill
Brightened with the lead mare
That rang the bell
I set off, with my hat tilted
And spurs jingling
I remember a mud-walled ranch
Where I waved for a smile
"Vaya con Dios," she said
I heard in the voice of the wind!
"You too, my beauty"
Keep me in your thoughts
I shouted to my troop
I swayed on the saddle
If life made me a fork
I never stray from what I am
I learned that half-taming
May not pay for what I want
If I don't deserve the sum
Of the other half I hope for
I was riding a chestnut
Second-hand horse
That had on its forehead, painted
A crescent moon
Ahead a group of colts
And some "wild ones" in between
Some more "mischievous" than others
And some more "bridled" with restraint
My troop, my world
I don't live, I'm not free
If I don't walk in these backlands
Where I'm close to everything
I only regret
After each blow
Touching your face, brunette
With my calloused hands
I'm a horse tamer, not for fun
But because I like this job!
Riding with rope and grit
I leave without fuss and without vice
However, not everything is the same
And "bad luck" consumes
When fate hoodwinks
Some more colt than man
