Silencio

Silence
They say that words are weapons
That's why silence is a shield
Some want to hurt when they throw the spear
And some seek to escape within its walls
Many reveal themselves when using it
But the wise say more by knowing when to stay silent
That knot in your throat is the truth you don't tell yourself
Leaving your scars exposed
Of course, silence scares us
If a glance is enough to break an 'I love you'
When I held my grandfather's hand tight
And silently shouted: Don't go to heaven
We learned to speak early, but
How long will it take for us to be quiet and think first?
We always fight in front of a blind world
If silence is a language, I think we don't understand each other
How many times have you smiled while broken?
How many times have you let it happen?
We forget so much to talk to ourselves
That we pay with others a pain that never heals
Have you stopped to forgive yourself or wonder
If you fear loneliness because you're afraid to hear what you keep silent?
From the purest love to the deepest pain
Silence stops the world and lets the noise go away
It's in everything true out there
It was there before the first kiss, it will be there when you die
It's sleeping homeless on the streets
Or waiting for a hospital call that never comes
In the memory that makes grandma cry
Or the attempt to accept that one day she won't be there, even if you want
In that love that is never overcome
Or in the fear that tells you: If you don't speak, it won't hurt you
Why do we run from silence?
So human, so deep, and so intense
But don't be silent to please the rest
Whoever seeks an answer must find it within
I don't regret, I am what I suffered in silence
Today, thousands shout the phrases I cried writing
The pause in the storm, the peace everyone wants
For others, a lethal hurricane that the heart holds
Loneliness is camping when there's raining pain
Tell me what you think when you're silent, I'll tell you who you are
Here you must tell yourself what you ignore
If you're not happy alone, how will someone else make you?
What if time passes and abandons you
And you forgot to know yourself to love yourself alone?
I saw it in every farewell on the platform
Tears on a window are swearing to return
In the forgiveness not spoken, in the love unseen
Separating people for not wanting to break it
Have you ever felt to empathize?
Why don't we talk now, if before we did well?
Every silence has a story with it
There are 'I love yous' that are said and others that send shivers
For me, there are two types of silence
One that is only yours, the one you choose
The one you seek to be at peace, to talk to yourself
But the silence they want to impose on you when they harm you
When they seek to possess you
That's the one to break, to shout louder
To make them see that they won't make you silent again
Or fear it
Silence
