Solitaria Y De Pie
Raly Barrionuevo
Alone and Standing
From the distance it hangs
And falls again
A dove calls to it
And announces yesterday, and announces yesterday.
From the mountain comes the wind
The path is bitter,
And the downpour is the verb
That gives it a drink, that gives it a drink.
But it climbs into my eyes,
And settles on my skin
Like a fresh dawn
Alone and standing.
Tears of guilt and wind
Carry its sunrise,
Paths of adobe and silence
Retracing its steps, retracing its steps.
I sink my mark in its sand
Wounded by thirst
Love letters that arrived
From an old desire, from an old desire.
But it climbs into my eyes
And settles on my skin
Like a fresh dawn
Alone and standing, alone and standing.
