Flor de Lino
Raly Barrionuevo
Flax Flower
I was plucking nights waiting in vain
For her to give her a kiss,
But I dreamt of the big kiss
From the earth in heat.
Flax Flower,
What a strange destiny
Cutting off a path
Of flowering flax...
I was plucking nights when I waited for her
On that path,
Full of shame, like boys in a new suit:
So many things that have gone,
And now they always return through the eternal night of my loneliness!
I saw her bloom like the flax
From a mature Argentine field under the sun...
If I had understood her
I would already have love in my ranch!
I saw her bloom, but one day,
A curse took her away!
Flax Flower left
And today when the field is in bloom
Alas! I miss her love.
There is a gate where memories return to the beloved place,
That the remorse of not having loved her always leaves open:
Flax Flower,
I see you in the star
That lights the path
Of my loneliness...
I was plucking nights when she waited for me like I wait for her,
Full of hopes, like a poor gaucho when he arrives in town,
Flower of absence, your memory
Always follows me through the eternal night of my loneliness...
