El Rey De La Naturaleza
Ramón Ayala
The King of Nature
there in the early morning
the stomach growls from a league away
it seems to be Pancho Villa
riding his seven leagues
it's old Don Antonio
next to his lieutenant
but one-eyed and somewhat crooked
who was too brave
the rider shows traces
of a thousand stumbles and hardships
he slept under the stars
married to the hawks
and despite his elegance
and although he lives in poverty
he is a man of his word
king of nature
the old man talks calmly
life is about losing and winning
and the only poor person in the world
is the one who didn't know how to love
god gave us animals
for our well-being
although we eat their flesh
we must know how to take care of them
trudging along a path
old man sitting in the chair
hat tilted, fierce
with the concentration of an eagle
he goes in search of a dry tree
from which to make firewood
he smiles when compared
he is hurt by what he does today
he always barked with effort
breaking in the corners
he did it in the Quinene style
he was a companion to all
the years went by
now he plays the role of a cook
I got tired of herds
when I was the top dog
the rider shows traces
of a thousand stumbles and hardships
he slept under the stars
married to the hawks
and despite his elegance
and although he lives in poverty
he is a man of his word
he is the king of nature
