Rey Del Mar
Rata Blanca
King of the Sea
Hear the ship's call!
You should see how it turns and prepares
To escape at full sail;
For I am the king of the sea,
And my fury is to be feared.
"In the spoils
I divide
What I've caught
Equally;
I only want
For riches
Beauty
Without rival."
For my ship is my treasure.
I’m sentenced to death!
I laugh:
Luck doesn’t abandon me
And the one who condemns me,
I’ll hang from some mast,
Maybe on his own ship.
And if I fall,
What is life?
I gave it up
As lost,
When the yoke
Of the slave
Like a brave man,
I shook off.
For my ship is my treasure.
My best music
Is the north wind;
The crash and tremble,
Of the rattled cables,
The roars of the black sea
And the thunder of my cannons.
"And from the thunder
To the violent sound
And from the wind
To the roar
I fall asleep
Calmly,
Lulled
By the sea."
For my ship is my treasure,
For my God is freedom,
My law is strength and the wind,
My only homeland is the sea.
