I invited Jesus to dinner at my house
I prepared a roast chicken for dinner
I don't have much and everything is very simple
But I did everything to please you

Everything prepared and the table set
Someone knocked on the door, I ran to answer it
He was a beggar, he was hungry
He asked me for something to eat

I went in and checked the table
To see if everything was in place
Suddenly the door slams again
I thought: It's Jesus! He just arrived

When I opened it, I saw a child
All ragged and standing on the ground
His eyes asked for more than food
That I also gave you some attention

I went to the table and grabbed another thigh
The child ate very quickly
I saw the joy on your face
When with a smile she thanked me

Thank you very much, may God bless you
And may bread never be missing from your table

More time passed, Jesus arrived
And he sat down at the table for the meal
He looked at the chicken, I told him: Eat!
And I was shocked when he said: No!

Still confused, he said: My Lord, I have done this to you
A whole chicken, but I'll explain and he interrupted me
Before I explained looking into my eyes
He started talking

I am satisfied with both thighs
From this roast chicken and prepared me
Today I knocked on your door twice
I was hungry and you fed me

Whatever you do for the poor and the lowly
