Those Were The Days

Those Were The Days
As a kid, I roamed the hills and valleys
Played under the big oak trees
The countryside was my little playground
These are my cherished memories
Then in the evening when work was done
The family would gather 'round to pray
Dad read the Bible after dinner
We learned to trust and obey
And we thank the Lord
For what our parents taught us
Showing right and wrong
In so many ways
And though we're older
We haven't forgotten
I think we all agree
Those were the days
As a young one, I found the joy
Of working hard with heart and hand
By the sweat of my brow
I learned the lessons
This modern age just won't understand
There are kids today without fathers
People search for love that won't last
They don't know what a friend we have in Jesus
Faith feels like a thing of the past
And we wonder what this generation's brought us
Twisting right and wrong in so many ways
The lessons of the past have been forgotten
I think we all agree those were the days
And we thank the Lord
For what our parents taught us showing right and wrong in so many ways
And though we're older
We haven't forgotten
I think we all agree
Those were the days
I think we all agree
Those were the days
