El Inocente

I was in my truck and they got in the way
They call me cousin, they're not soldiers
We have to run
Or we'll lose it here

I didn't have trouble or carry a weapon
Surely they made a mistake
I replied
I was the one who made the mistake

They didn't shoot when I put my hands up
A guy yells to get out of the car
And before speaking
I got in the back seat

When I felt the gun on my forehead
My thoughts didn't let me act

I got the blame, I'm innocent not a coward
I'm going to live to tell

No cell phones, no police, it was night
It was also raining where there's terror
Men of valor pretend to be brave

I thought of death then of my mother
Who had told me not to be late
You're not doing wrong
But evil is abundant

I pulled the door and it was open
I ducked after some turns
I got up heading towards the houses, I crossed

I kept running and there were even bullets
They left holes where they hit
I didn't look back
I didn't see my car again

I approached a corner when someone came out
I almost got caught but we're here
An hour passed and my cousin arrived
He also jumped out of the car behind me
