Aloha Heja He

Aloha Heja He
I've seen the whole world
From Singapore to Aberdeen
If you ask me where it was most beautiful
Then I say: Zanzibar!
It was a tough voyage
Scrubbing the deck for ten weeks only
Cursed the world, spat into the wind
And swallowed salty water
When we dropped anchor, it was heavenly calm
And the sun was directly overhead
When I looked over the railing, I thought I was dreaming
There were a thousand boats heading towards us
In the boats sat men and women
Their bodies glistening in the sun
And they sang a song
That seemed strangely familiar to me
But I've never heard it like that before
Yes, I've never heard it like that
Aloa-hea-hea loa-hea-hea loa-hea-he
Their boats moored alongside
And with the wind came laughter
They took off their flower wreaths
And threw them over to us-
Hey- and the party was already in full swing
Aloa-hea-hea loa-hea-hea loa-hea-he
I saw paradise
It was in nineteen-ten
The helmsman had sailors in the mast and the
Purser had been devoured by the gonococci
But otherwise we were in the best of health
Aloa-hea-hea loa-hea-hea loa-hea-he
