Ich liebe dich
Reinhard Mey
I Love You
I've filled countless pages
I've made up stories
I haven't held back any answers
I've played the thinker and the clown
I've shared my wisdom
And along the way, some foolishness, it seems
I spoke as if my life depended on it
And yet I always meant just one thing:
I love you
I need you
I trust you
I count on you
I didn't want to live without you
I love you
I've tried to speak in ever new images
But now time's running out for me
I can't describe it in seven different ways
I’ll just say it straight and clear
I’ll just say it and I’ll write
On your mirror, on the bench
On the fogged-up window
For which I invented so many detours:
I love you
I need you
I trust you
I count on you
I didn't want to live without you
I love you
Sometimes I see us both in my thoughts
Standing on an empty platform
Between us, invisible barriers
And one stays, one has to go
Speaker voices and doors slamming
And waving from the departing train
I want to say it over and over again
And yet I never say it enough:
I love you
I need you
I trust you
I count on you
I didn't want to live without you
I love you
